1 Year Success story from Gordy
Drug Rehab Program Graduate
I hope everything is going well for you. Things are going great down here, my girls are doing awesome, my wife and I have a strong relationship and the school is practically running itself. I couldn't be happier with my life. Watching the Giants/Falcons game on Monday night brought out some memories in me that I feel compelled to express to you. I had some real meaningful thoughts this morning about my current state of being compared to where I was at that time.
Gordy, you played a big part in helping me overcome some serious problems in my life. I am thankful and honored to be able to call you a friend. I would like to share some of my thoughts and feelings with you and invite you to pass them along to everyone at this rehab facility as you see fit.
Just over one year ago my life was headed in a direction that, could of and would of, only lead to the destruction of everything I ever loved. I lost 'something' somewhere along the way. Something that made me a winner and a good man. My mind wasn't working the same, up wasn't up anymore, blue wasn't blue, etc.. and nothing I did made sense. I knew right from wrong, but for the life of me I could not figure out where and why I made the decisions that lead me down the dark path I followed. I felt a helplessness that I never before felt and never, even in my wildest dreams, believed I could feel. The turning point at this time in my life came when I made the decision to get help. When I came to the realization that it was not a weakness to seek help. It took more strength for me to admit my problems and ask for help than it ever did for me to win football championships.
I am grateful for everyone at this rehab that touched my life at that time and contributed to my current state of being. From Tony selling me on the program and his energy, Abbey reawakening the character inside of me and being warm and caring, Joe working with me on a daily basis and bringing me the tools needed to overcome anything, Mary making the decisions from the top, to you Gordy, bringing me a SI magazine every week, going to the games with 'Louie' and helping me see myself again as I truly am. I salute all of you that make the effort to help people on a daily basis and want you all to know that what you do does not go unappreciated. You will forever have a supporter and more importantly a friend in me.
Thank you,
G.M.
